Old Farmer's Wisdom

From the email archives:

* Your fences need to be horse-high, pig-tight and bull-strong.

* Keep skunks and bankers and lawyers at a distance.

* Life is simpler when you plow around the stump.

* A bumble bee is considerably faster than a John Deere tractor.

* Words that soak into your ears are whispered...not yelled.

* Meanness don't jes' happen overnight.

* Forgive your enemies. It messes up their heads.

* Do not corner something that you know is meaner than you.

* It don't take a very big person to carry a grudge.

* You cannot unsay a cruel word.

* Every path has a few puddles.

* When you wallow with pigs, expect to get dirty.

* The best sermons are lived, not preached.

* Most of the stuff people worry about ain't never gonna happen anyway.

* Don't judge folks by their relatives.

* Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.

* Live a good, honorable life. Then when you get older and think back, you'll enjoy it a second time.

* Don't interfere with somethin' that ain't botherin' you none.

* Timing has a lot to do with the outcome of a rain dance.

* If you find yourself in a hole, the first thing to do is stop diggin'.

* Sometimes you get, and sometimes you get got.

* The biggest troublemaker you'll probably ever have to deal with, watches you from the mirror every mornin'.

* Always drink upstream from the herd.

* Good judgment comes from experience, and a lotta that comes from bad judgment.

* Lettin' the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier than puttin' it back in.

* If you get to thinkin' you're a person of some influence, try orderin' somebody else's dog around.

* Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply.

Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God.

These are good. The old wisdom is always the most valuable.

But I wanted to tell you I had a dreeam this morning about your blog's blinking border around 'April X' and that rabbit.

The dream essentially explained to me why the blinking dashes seem to move in a clockwise manner.
Of course, they don't- it's only an optical illusion.
The dream used a ring of guys who would turn their heads (alternately) left, then back facing ahead. And these guys used one hand (alternately) pointing left, then forward...
giving the same illusion as your border, explaining it.

I'm not a smart man, Jen-nie.

Well, Forrest....lmao

The "blinky border" is a "tribute" to MSN Groups. When I first started my own Group, I had my fair share of flashing, blinking things and animation, but I didn't bust a grape compared to other sites with their multiple tables and extremely slow-loading pages.

I know, I know, THIS blog probably loads slow for a lot of folks, but I try to keep it to a minimum.

I have some weird dreams some nights, but it's usually after I eat something weird before I go to sleep, like sardines in hot sauce, covered in horseradish along with pickled okra, washed down with a cold beer. (I don't drink much, just want one every few months or so)

I love that movie; the books are good too, pretty different than the movie (of course). Also liked the sequel. Can't remember which one, think it was the first, but Gump was an astronaut. In the second, his boy is a genius and helps his dad create a great fuel source from the methane on a hog farm...but Gump falls asleep and doesn't mind the pressure and it all blows up. They oughta make a sequel to Gump with the second book.

Speaking of Gump, I was JUST looking at vids from the Lt. Dan Band (with Gary Sinise) and thinking of posting one as soon as these other vids dropped back to the next "page".

Thanks for posting!

Also...I need to post to yours, you've had some new posts, but they didn't show up on my reader. I had made the mistake of also subscribing, so that made the posts show up double. I un-subscribed, then quit following, intending to redo it, but then was getting quadruple posts! I've since started following again, but now don't get anything. Oh well. I visit there nearly every day anyway, sometimes several times, just don't know what to say or am not in the mood to gripe about stuff, y'know? I don't gripe much anywhere else but at your place.

The upstream one is good advice.
