Sneaky CAPTCHA

I don't know what possessed me to do it, but I was intrigued by a headline "Just WHAT did Justin Bieber mean?" so I clicked on the link.  I read the article, then saw two comments beneath it.  One said something like "Oh, leave him alone! He's a young man and I bet YOU said things when you were his age!!!!!"

I thought to myself "Well, yeah....I "said things" when I was his age, but nothing so stupid and I didn't have an entourage, millions of screaming teenybopper girl fans and a zillion bucks, either." I clicked the "down vote" on that comment and I clicked the "up vote" on the reply.   To be honest, I forget what the reply was - it was clever, though - and I have already forgotten all of the things Bieber had attributed to him.  I'm not a fan of either the young man or his music, so if you have an objection to that...well, sue me...or stick it in your ear, either one works for me.

But, the funny thing was I guess the site had some kind of script that doesn't allow for such quick voting on the comments and when I upvoted the reply, I got this:

Stick it in your ear, CAPTCHA.  Don't tell me YOU'RE a Bieber fan!

I really shouldn't make fun of Justin Bieber;  after all, he's someone's daughter.

Deep in the Heart of CAPTCHA

I wanted to watch a video earlier, but as is always the case with this particular website, they put in a CAPTCHA feature to keep automated programs from downloading the videos. It's usually just a "copy this phrase" but sometimes it's a multiple choice quiz and I'd never seen this one before tonight.

I'm glad I got it right.

CURRENT CAPCHA CRAP

I went to reply to a comment under a post and saw this:

I noticed this new - and much better than previous versions - verification process on other Blogger blogs I frequent, but this was the first time I had been required to do it on my own blog.  At first I thought it was just a setting that needed to be changed, but apparently it's not something I CAN change, so I'm sorry for the extra step.

I have required OpenID or a Google account in order to post, but that's just to keep my blood pressure down and not have to delete asshole anonymous comments from anyone who wants to criticize me or something I've posted in here.  I don't intend to be offensive in here and don't think I am, but it IS my blog and if someone wants to curse me out or rebut what few controversial things I've said, then they can get their own damn blog and do it there, not in here.

So, again, I'm sorry for the extra step.  I wish I could change it, but at least it's fairly easy to read and is only 3-4 digits to type in.  Maybe this will keep the spam I get now 'n then to a minimum.

Blade Runner CAPTCHA

Earlier today I had to get through one of those usually infuriating CAPTCHA screens in order to view a video. Most of the time they're almost illegible to read, a combination of fuzzy letters and numbers, but those such as these aren't too bad, only having to copy the phrase in order to proceed. I had to laugh at this one because having watched Blade Runner several dozen times, I immediately recognized the dialog.

Here's the scene from the movie; it's all very dramatic, but the CAPTCHA code line is spoken a little past the 2:00 minute mark:
