Spring Has Sprung!

Happy Vernal Equinox!

Summer, fall, winter, spring

The seasons rotate as each brings

Its special beauty to this Earth of ours.

Winter's snow and summer's flowers;

Frozen winters will flow come spring.

There is a renewal of everything.

- Edna Frohock
American poet (1906-97)

twain

twain [tweyn] adjective, noun
two

Being a Kipling fan, I was familiar with the word because of his poem The Ballad of East and West with the oft-quoted first line:

Oh, East is East and West is West, and never the twain shall meet,
Till Earth and Sky stand presently at God's great Judgment Seat;
But there is neither East nor West, Border, nor Breed, nor Birth,
When two strong men stand face to face, though they come from the ends of the earth!

Other than that, I'm not sure it's a word used much these days, other than referring to "two" other Twains -  Mark and Shania.

poetaster

poetaster po·et·as·ter [poh-it-as-ter] noun

an inferior poet; a writer of indifferent verse.

Poetry I never could master
My poems were quite the disaster
The art of the rhyme
Never was mine
Which makes me a poetaster.

bombinate

bombinate \BOM-buh-nayt\ , intransitive verb:
To buzz; to hum; to drone.

Eight terrorists gathered to bombinate
To preach their hatred, to discuss their fate
Except for one, he wasn't so brave
He stayed behind in the cave
He wasn't swayed by the other's urgings
About Paradise and all those virgins
He decided he would wait for heaven
So the bombinate became bombin' seven.

A Masterpiece

You Are a Painting

You are a passionate person. You see the emotional undertones that others miss.

Compared to other people, you are sentimental. You allow yourself to feel everything.

Believe that art should capture the beauty and mood of a moment.

The best art speaks to your heart. It makes you smile, dream, or even cry.

I sometimes feel like a painting
Hanging crooked upon a wall
And people keep adjusting me
To make sure that I don't fall.

To some, I'm a colorful masterpiece
Others see shades of gray
My friends are those who stop and look
The rest just walk away.

I may not be a masterpiece
Hanging in a golden frame
I might not be a Rembrandt
But I'm an original, all the same!
