That's Me!

Plain, white and unscented.

You Are Toilet Paper

You have a fearless spirit and an iron stomach.

You aren't easily grossed out, and you enjoy breaking taboos.

While you are wild, you are also helpful. You don't mind doing the dirty work.

You are persistent and thorough. When you do something, you make sure and get the job done.

When I was a driller on the rigs, I compared the job to going to the bathroom because after doing the dirty stuff, here came the paperwork.

It's a Gas

My mom used to buy Mad magazines for my sisters and I every other time she went to the grocery store. (Pop got paid every two weeks, and the magazine was a monthly. On the off bi-weekly trips, we got some other magazine, such as Cracked)

I stumbled across an mp3 version of this and thought I'd do a movie and post it; after I got done, I decided to find out when this came out (1963) and discovered the above version at YouTube.

The "record" came in a "Best of" magazine edition and was basically made out of cardboard, with the recording being done on cheap plastic glued to the paper. I'm not sure what happened to it...I expect I wore it out. I was around eight years old when we got it, so I thought it quite hilarious. (a boy who could burp on command in those days was thought to be extremely talented. I bet that hasn't changed much since then.)

The saxophone on the recording was played by the legendary King Curtis.

Tank Battery Explosion

Near Lamesa, TX May 15, 2009

WARNING: Some cursing. If it'd been ME taking the video, you'd have heard a lot more.

Thank goodness there's no smell-a-vision.

Slow motion vid no sound

I remember my dad having to go put out fires on top of his tank batteries and heater treaters after lightning hit them.

Flag Counter

Stumbled across another nifty service similar to Feedjit; this one is Flag Counter, a free "sticky" counter that's easily customized to one's site or blog.

Here's an example of what it looks like:

The above screenshot is from the Flag Counter site.

From the website:

Add our free counter to any website, it's just a simple image. Every time someone from a new country visits your site, a new flag will be added to your counter. The total number of visitors from each country will be shown next to the flag, and clicking the counter image will reveal all sorts of useful information!

I put it at the very bottom of this "page" and have it set up for all flags and eight columns.

I know, I know...I'm overly optimistic. I'm lucky to get any visitors from other countries at all, except those with gay dwarf and sister's feet fetishes.

Flag Counter

EDIT/UPDATE

The counter has been up for one week and we've had 308 visitors from 41 countries with 700 visits.

Friday's Storm

Photos at NWS website from two Swiss storm chasers.
